In a startling development that has sent ripples through local politics, P.P. Rajesh, a Communist Party of India (Marxist) councillor representing the Noonhumbayi ward in Koothuparamba municipality, has been taken into custody. He faces serious allegations of stealing a gold necklace from an elderly woman.
Following his arrest, the CPI(M) Kannur district committee wasted no time in expelling Rajesh from the party. The committee stated that his actions had severely tarnished the organization’s reputation.
The alleged incident unfolded last Thursday. According to reports, Rajesh entered the residence of 77-year-old P. Janaki at Kanniyarkunnu. It is claimed that he approached her from behind, forcibly snatched her necklace, and then made his escape on a scooter.
A dedicated police team, operating under the leadership of Koothuparamba Assistant Commissioner of Police K.V. Pramod, successfully located and recovered the stolen necklace.
