The political landscape for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections is heating up, with Jharkhand’s ruling party, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), making a decisive announcement on Saturday, October 18, 2025. The JMM has opted to go solo, confirming its independent participation and the fielding of candidates in six crucial seats.
These highly anticipated elections, which will determine the composition of Bihar’s 243-seat Assembly, are scheduled across two phases: November 6 and November 11. The votes will be tallied on November 14.
Supriyo Bhattacharya, the JMM’s general secretary and spokesperson, clearly articulated the party’s strategic decision. He stated, “The party has decided to contest the Bihar polls on its own.” Bhattacharya further elaborated on the chosen constituencies, naming Chakai, Dhamdaha, Katoria (ST), Manihari (ST), Jamui, and Pirpainti as the battlegrounds where JMM candidates will compete. All six of these seats are slated to go to the polls during the second phase of the elections, on November 11.
