In a landmark achievement for India’s defense sector, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ceremoniously flagged off the inaugural batch of BrahMos missiles manufactured at the BrahMos Aerospace unit located in Lucknow. This momentous occasion took place on Saturday.
This development is being hailed not only as a significant milestone for the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) but also as a substantial boost to India’s commitment to achieving self-reliance in defense manufacturing. The successful production and dispatch of this first batch of missiles underscore the nation’s growing prowess in advanced defense technologies.
The BrahMos Aerospace facility in Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow, is responsible for the production of the BrahMos supersonic missile system. The company has now successfully completed the manufacturing of its initial batch of missiles at this state-of-the-art integration and test facility.
The advanced unit, which began operations after its inauguration on May 11, 2025, is equipped with all the necessary modern infrastructure for the comprehensive integration, rigorous testing, and final quality assurance of the missiles. Following successful testing, these missiles are now ready for deployment by the Indian armed forces, further enhancing the country’s defense preparedness.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries including Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, and several other government officials, underscoring the strategic importance of this initiative.
