In a heartbreaking turn of events, the father of Dr. Kruthika Reddy, a 28-year-old dermatologist from Bengaluru, has donated his ₹3 crore house to ISKCON. This profound act comes after his daughter was allegedly murdered by her husband, surgeon Dr. Mahendra Reddy, using anaesthesia. The house, intended as a symbol of his daughter’s happiness, now stands as a memorial to a shattered dream.
Dr. Kruthika Reddy’s death, initially ruled as natural six months ago, was later revealed to be a murder. Forensic reports confirmed she had been administered a fatal dose of Propofol, a controlled anaesthetic, by her husband, Dr. Mahendra Reddy. This led to his arrest on October 14.
The couple married in May 2024. Less than a year later, in April, Dr. Reddy passed away under suspicious circumstances. Her husband claimed to have treated her for gastritis at home, administering medication intravenously. However, subsequent forensic tests revealed the presence of lethal anaesthetic substances in her organs, transforming the case from a suspected natural death to a murder investigation.
Dr. Mahendra Reddy, a 31-year-old general surgeon, allegedly used his medical knowledge to meticulously plan and execute the murder. Police cited that he exploited his wife’s known health vulnerabilities, which investigators believe stemmed from gastric and metabolic disorders that her family reportedly did not disclose before the marriage. This allegedly fueled resentment that ultimately led to her death.
Despite the gravity of the situation, Dr. Reddy reportedly maintained a calm demeanor, presenting the death as a tragic medical mishap. He has now been charged under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder.
Dr. Kruthika Reddy, who was on the verge of opening her own skin clinic, ‘Skin & Scalpel,’ was remembered for her compassion and dedication. Her father, K. Muni Reddy, now finds solace in his faith, donating the house to ISKCON as a way to honor his daughter’s memory and find peace amidst his profound grief.
