Property owners along the crucial Rajiv Rahadari route, stretching from Gymkhana to Thumukunta, are making an urgent plea to Medchal Malkajgiri MP Eatala Rajender. They are requesting his immediate intervention in the current road-widening project, proposing that the ambitious 200-foot expansion be scaled back to a more manageable 100 feet.
In a heartfelt letter addressed to the MP, Telukunta Satish Gupta, who chairs the Rajiv Rahadari Property Owners Joint Action Committee (JAC), emphasized the severe consequences of the wider plan. He highlighted that such an extensive expansion would inevitably result in the widespread displacement of countless property owners and the collapse of numerous local businesses, pushing them into deep financial hardship.
The committee’s letter strongly questioned the necessity of such a massive undertaking, stating, “Even India’s largest cities and major national highways seldom feature roads as vast as 200 feet. We are struggling to comprehend the rationale behind this sudden push for a 200-foot expansion, which threatens to inflict significant damage upon our citizens’ properties and their very means of livelihood.” The letter further pointed out a crucial detail: the original government tender for the project initially stipulated a road width of 100 feet.
To support their case, the JAC referenced successful urban planning examples from other Indian cities, specifically Nagpur and Coimbatore. These cities have effectively implemented modern infrastructure, such as double-decker roads and elevated corridors, all while adhering to a 100-foot road width. The committee is urging the Telangana government to consider adopting similar innovative and balanced solutions that prioritize both essential infrastructure development and the well-being of its citizens.
