During a recent Assembly session, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin announced a significant update for women across Tamil Nadu. New applications submitted through the popular ‘Ungaludhan Stalin’ camps for the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai (KMUT) scheme, which provides a monthly entitlement of ₹1,000, are currently under review. He assured that all eligible women from this new batch would start receiving their financial aid from December 15, with the scrutiny process expected to conclude by November 30.
Highlighting the scheme’s success, Mr. Stalin noted that the KMUT initiative has already supported approximately 1.14 crore women beneficiaries throughout the state over the past 26 months, distributing nearly ₹30,000 crore since its launch. To further expand its reach and ensure more women can benefit, several eligibility conditions have been thoughtfully eased.
These new applications are largely a result of the ‘Ungaludhan Stalin’ camps, a state government initiative launched on June 19 to enhance access to various public services. The government had aimed to conduct 10,000 such outreach camps across both rural and urban areas by November 15, and as of October 15, an impressive 9,055 camps had already been successfully held.
Following an earlier announcement by the Chief Minister, these camps specifically accepted applications for the KMUT scheme, drawing a significant response. A staggering 28 lakh women have submitted their applications for the financial aid through these ‘Ungaludhan Stalin’ camps. Dedicated officials from the Revenue Department are diligently carrying out field inspections to meticulously review these new submissions and determine eligibility.
