Telangana’s dynamic IT and Industries Minister, D. Sridhar Babu, has received a prestigious invitation to deliver the keynote address at the AusBiotech International Conference 2025. This highly anticipated event, a cornerstone for the Life Sciences sector in the Asia-Pacific region, is jointly organized by Australia’s leading Life Sciences body, AusBiotech, and the government of Victoria. It is slated to take place in Melbourne from October 21-24.
This invitation marks a significant milestone, as Mr. Sridhar Babu will be the sole Indian leader addressing this global assembly. His participation highlights Telangana’s growing stature as a key innovation hub within the Life Sciences landscape, as confirmed by his office following a formal invitation extended by Hilary McGeachy, Consul General of Australia.
A Surge in Investment: ₹63,000 Crore Boost
During his address, Minister Sridhar Babu is set to showcase Telangana’s remarkable journey and future vision for the Life Sciences and MedTech sectors. He will emphasize the state’s robust policy framework and its readiness to welcome next-generation global investments. Notably, over the past two years alone, Telangana has attracted more than ₹63,000 crore in fresh investments across the Life Sciences, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology domains.
Consul General Hilary McGeachy commended Minister Sridhar Babu’s leadership, under the guidance of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, for establishing Telangana as a formidable global center for innovation in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and MedTech. She underscored the critical importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation between Australia and Telangana, particularly in areas like innovation, healthcare technologies, and sustainable industrial development.
Expressing his immense pride, Mr. Sridhar Babu stated that this invitation is a moment of honor not just for Telangana, but for India as a whole. He views it as a testament to the global recognition of Telangana’s swift progress in the Life Sciences sector. Hyderabad, the state capital, proudly stands as one of the world’s top seven Life Sciences clusters – a unique distinction for an Indian city.
“We are dedicated to utilizing every global platform to attract further innovation, investment, and collaboration,” he affirmed. “The Telangana government is resolute in its commitment to forge an even stronger Australia-Telangana partnership, built on the foundations of innovation, mutual trust, and shared prosperity.”
Targeting a $250 Billion Life Sciences Economy
Currently, Telangana is home to over 2,000 Life Sciences companies, boasting a combined valuation of $80 billion. The state has an ambitious target: to expand its Life Sciences economy to an impressive $250 billion by 2030. The state already plays a crucial role in India’s pharmaceutical landscape, contributing nearly 40% of the nation’s total output and accounting for a remarkable one-third of the world’s vaccine production.
