In a powerful blow against illegal drug cultivation, law enforcement officials on Tuesday successfully eradicated a vast plantation of ganja plants hidden deep within the Attappady forests. Authorities confirmed the destruction of approximately 10,000 cannabis plants, estimated to be around three months old, spread across 60 cents of land in the remote Pudur forest area. This operation marks a significant achievement in the ongoing fight against narcotics in the region.
The extensive operation was carried out by a dedicated joint team, including personnel from the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF), and the local Pudur police station. Their mission required an arduous trek, as officers spent five hours navigating the dense forest on foot to reach the clandestine cultivation site.
Following this major discovery and destruction, a thorough investigation has been launched. Police are now focused on identifying and apprehending the individuals and networks responsible for both the cultivation and sale of this illegal ganja. Officials lauded the operation as one of the most substantial anti-ganja efforts ever undertaken by the Kerala Police, underscoring their commitment to public safety and combating the illicit drug trade.
