Shivamogga – Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah recently reiterated his government’s commitment to holding elections for local administrative bodies. He emphasized that the state would proceed with these crucial polls in accordance with court directives.
During a media interaction in Hassan on October 15, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah clarified the ongoing legal situation concerning rural local body elections. “The matter is currently with the court, and we are fully prepared to conduct the elections as soon as the court issues its directions,” he stated. He added that elections for the Bengaluru corporation and other urban local bodies are also on the agenda, stressing that “elections are vital for reinforcing democratic principles.”
When questioned about a private dinner meeting held on October 13, the Chief Minister dismissed any political interpretations, explaining, “These dinner meetings are a regular occurrence where we informally discuss party-related matters. They have no bearing on potential leadership changes.”
Addressing a letter from RDPR Minister Priyank Kharge regarding restrictions on the RSS holding programs in government facilities, Mr. Siddaramaiah broadened the scope of the discussion. He asserted that “no organization, including the RSS, should be permitted to hold events in public spaces such as school grounds or parks if they cause disturbance to others.” The Chief Minister further mentioned that he has instructed officials to study Tamil Nadu’s policy on this matter for potential implementation in Karnataka.
In response to inquiries about an impending Cabinet reshuffle, the CM offered a concise reply: “Let the Bihar elections conclude first.”
Earlier, the Chief Minister had visited the revered Hasanamba temple in Hassan. He was accompanied by several legislators and senior district administrative officials during his visit.
