M. Lakshman, a prominent spokesperson for the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, has accused the BJP of deliberately instigating communal unrest in Mysuru as the city gears up for its iconic Dasara celebrations. He called for a stringent crackdown on the implicated BJP leaders by the authorities.
During a recent press conference, Mr. Lakshman specifically pointed out that some leaders, including former BJP Member of Parliament Pratap Simha, have been persistently criticizing the selection of acclaimed author Banu Mushtaq for the Dasara inauguration. Lakshman asserted that this ongoing criticism is intended to inject animosity and division into society, and consequently, he demanded that Mr. Simha be ‘banished’ from Mysuru until the festival’s conclusion.
“For the festival and its associated festivities to unfold smoothly and without disruption, it is absolutely essential to extern Mr. Simha from the district until October 2, when the celebrations officially wrap up,” Mr. Lakshman emphasized.
He further highlighted that the Karnataka High Court has already dismissed Mr. Simha’s petition regarding this matter, suggesting that the former MP should respect and accept the judicial verdict.
