In a significant boost for the future of sports in Bidar, Forest, Ecology, and Environment Minister Eshwar Khandre, who also oversees Bidar district, announced the state government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure and fostering young athletic talent.
During his visit on Tuesday, Minister Khandre revealed exciting plans for a brand-new, modern sports stadium in Bidar. He personally inspected a promising site for the proposed stadium at Atiwal Cross, located within the Sericulture Department premises on the city’s outskirts.
The vision for this ambitious project is clear: to establish cutting-edge facilities that offer a professional environment. This will enable Bidar’s aspiring young athletes to receive top-tier training and compete effectively at higher levels, both regionally and nationally. “We will finalize a suitable location very soon and ensure the necessary funds are allocated to develop this state-of-the-art sports complex in Bidar,” Minister Khandre affirmed.
Accompanying the Minister during his inspection were Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Sharma, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Girish Badole, and other senior officials, underscoring the collaborative effort behind this initiative.
Earlier the same day, Minister Khandre inaugurated the Kalaburagi Division-Level Volleyball Tournament for both boys and girls at Bidar’s Nehru Stadium. Addressing the young participants, he emphasized the crucial role of sports alongside academic pursuits.
“Sports are an indispensable part of a holistic life. Students should embrace physical activities and not limit themselves to books alone. Active participation in games is vital for showcasing their inherent talents,” he urged.
He offered words of encouragement, reminding the children that setbacks are merely stepping stones to greater achievements. Minister Khandre highlighted that sports not only promote physical fitness but also cultivate mental resilience and discipline, providing a vital pathway for athletes to advance from divisional to state, national, and even international arenas.
The tournament itself was a vibrant display of talent, drawing approximately 500 students from seven districts across the Kalyana Karnataka region. Deputy Director of Public Instruction H.G. Suresh, District Physical Education Officer S.A. Munaf, along with numerous physical education teachers and enthusiastic students, were also in attendance.
