The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) recently conducted a successful operation in Rajanna Sircilla district, leading to the arrest of a mandal surveyor and his private assistant. The duo was caught red-handed on Tuesday while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 from a concerned citizen.
The investigation revealed that Madishetty Venugopal, 38, who serves as a mandal surveyor at the Tahsildar’s office in Sircilla, had initially demanded ₹30,000. This illicit demand was for completing a land survey and subsequently issuing a crucial panchanama copy related to the complainant’s mother’s property.
After receiving an initial payment of ₹10,000 on October 13, following the completion of the survey, Venugopal pressed for the remaining ₹20,000. He allegedly instructed his 24-year-old private assistant, Sura Vamshi, to collect this amount on his behalf.
ACB officials swiftly moved in, recovering the marked bribe money directly from Vamshi’s possession. Both Venugopal and Vamshi were immediately taken into custody and subsequently presented before the special court designated for ACB cases in Karimnagar.
In light of this incident, the ACB reiterates its commitment to combating corruption and urges the public to actively participate in this fight. Citizens who encounter demands for bribes from government employees are encouraged to report such instances confidentially by calling the toll-free number 1064, or by reaching out to Telangana ACB through WhatsApp at 9440446106, or via their official social media channels. The identity of all complainants will be strictly protected.
