Authorities in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas district have initiated legal proceedings against the principal of a private school following a disturbing incident. The principal, a woman, is accused of physically assaulting a six-year-old Class 1 student with a plastic pipe simply because he couldn’t recite the multiplication table of 2.
The alleged assault occurred on October 11. Subsequently, on Monday evening (October 13, 2025), a formal complaint from the minor’s family led to the registration of a case against Principal Shashikala Thakur. Hitesh Patil, in-charge of the Civil Lines police station, confirmed these details on Tuesday (October 14, 2025).
The principal now faces charges under pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, stemming from the father’s complaint.
According to the complaint, students had been assigned the task of memorizing the multiplication table of 2 as homework. When the young boy struggled to recall it during class, the principal allegedly used a plastic pipe to administer physical punishment.
The severity of the incident became apparent when the child returned home that evening. His family observed his unusual silence, and later, while changing his clothes, his mother discovered visible injury marks on both his thighs and face.
Following this discovery, the child was promptly taken to a private hospital for first aid treatment.
Police officer Hitesh Patil confirmed that a thorough investigation into the alleged assault within the school premises is currently in progress.
