Trump stated, “India is a great country with a very good friend of mine at the top, and he has done a fantastic job.” Notably, these remarks were made with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif present, and Trump voiced his hope for positive relations between Pakistan and India.
While PM Modi was invited to the summit, he was represented by the Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh. This gesture underscores the ongoing positive relationship between Trump and Modi, which has been characterized by mutual appreciation and occasional public exchanges, including phone calls and birthday greetings.
