During a session at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) focused on the Promotion and Protection of Child Rights, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) Nishikant Dubey did not hold back in his criticism of Pakistan. He directly accused the nation of committing grave violations under the UN agenda concerning children and armed conflict (CAAC).
Dubey acknowledged India’s significant efforts in child welfare, citing initiatives like the Child Helpline 1098 and the Ujjwala Yojana, which aids in preventing and rehabilitating victims of trafficking. He contrasted these positive steps with what he described as Pakistan’s abysmal record, labeling it one of the “most serious violators” of the CAAC agenda.
He firmly condemned Pakistan’s attempts to distract from the serious abuses against children within its own borders, referencing the UN Secretary-General’s 2025 report on CAAC and ongoing cross-border terrorism. Dubey further detailed accusations of Pakistan’s involvement in attacks targeting schools, especially girls’ schools, and healthcare workers. He specifically pointed to incidents along the Afghanistan border where Pakistan’s cross-border shelling and airstrikes were directly responsible for the deaths and injuries of Afghan children.
Referencing ‘Operation Sindoor,’ Dubey described it as a justified response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. He asserted that India’s response to terrorism, including surgical strikes on nine terrorist hideouts under Operation Sindoor in May 2025, was a measured and lawful act of self-defense, unlike Pakistan’s deliberate targeting of civilian areas, which included children.
Concluding his remarks, Dubey urged Pakistan to introspect rather than lecture on human rights. “Pakistan must look at itself in the mirror, stop preaching on this platform, act to protect children within its borders, and stop targeting women and children across its borders,” he stated.
Following the UN address, Dubey shared his remarks on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Today, under the responsibility given by the Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pakistan was reprimanded in the United Nations for its defeat in Operation Sindoor and its current situation.”
