A tragic incident unfolded on Monday near Hosa Tegur village, situated along the busy Pune-Bengaluru National Highway near Dharwad. A multi-utility vehicle (MUV) veered off the road and collided with a tree, instantly claiming the lives of two passengers and leaving five others injured.
The victims who tragically lost their lives have been identified as Suresh Basavanneppa Tuppad, 65, and Mahantamma Basavanneppa Tuppad, 52. Both were residents of Gadag.
Those who sustained injuries in the harrowing crash include Geetha Siddaramesh Asundi, Janani Suresh Tuppad, Keerthi Suresh Tuppad, Viraj Siddalingappa Tuppad, and the vehicle’s driver, Chetan Jadhav. All injured individuals were promptly transported to the District Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical care and are reportedly recuperating.
Police investigations reveal that the group was on their way back to Gadag, having visited the revered Mahalaxmi Temple in Kolhapur. The accident is believed to have occurred when the driver, Chetan Jadhav, reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, leading to a loss of control over the vehicle.
The local Garag Police have officially registered a case and are continuing their investigation into the precise circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.
