HYDERABAD – Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao has issued a rallying cry to party members in the Jubilee Hills constituency: reach out to every household. Their mission? To highlight the Congress party’s numerous unfulfilled pledges and present voters with a ‘debt card’ detailing how the ruling party has allegedly betrayed various segments of society.
Addressing an extended constituency-level meeting in Rahamat Nagar on Monday, Rama Rao framed the upcoming byelection as a crucial choice between the ‘car’ (BRS symbol) and the ‘bulldozer’ (metaphor for Congress). He stressed that Maganti Sunitha Gopinath’s victory is vital to prevent arbitrary demolitions of homes, suggesting that a Congress win would be interpreted as public acceptance of such actions across the city.
“Every section that feels betrayed by the Congress, not just in Jubilee Hills but throughout Telangana, is watching to see how voters here respond to the ruling party’s deceit,” Mr. Rama Rao stated. He asserted that a BRS triumph would compel the Congress to re-evaluate its strategies and honor its electoral commitments.
Adding to the criticism, senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao remarked that the Congress had failed to implement its six key guarantees and more than 430 other promises made before the Assembly elections, despite pledging to do so within 100 days—now 700 days after coming to power. “A defeat here would force the ruling party to face the harsh ground reality,” he commented.
Meanwhile, party leader P. Vishnuvardhan Reddy revealed that even staunch Congress loyalists like himself were driven to leave the party due to the current leadership’s arrogance. He alleged that party officials had demanded money for a ticket in the last Assembly elections. Reddy reaffirmed his unwavering support for Ms. Sunitha’s candidacy, vowing to prevent a Congress victory in Jubilee Hills as long as he is involved, citing BRS’s steadfast backing during his political challenges.
Former Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and party candidate Ms. Sunitha were among others who spoke at the impactful meeting.
