Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay, recently toured the Prisoners Agriculture Colony (PAC) and Central Prison in Cherlapalli. His visit aimed to review Telangana’s impressive reform and rehabilitation programs, which are dedicated to transforming inmates into skilled professionals and independent, self-reliant citizens.
During his visit, the Minister carefully examined several innovative initiatives, notably the Adventure Park. This unique program actively employs inmates from open-air jails and even recently released prisoners, engaging them in constructive recreational and educational activities.
At the colony’s bustling dairy farm, Minister Sanjay took time to engage with inmates who manage the livestock. In a heartwarming moment, he even named a newly born calf “Krishna,” adding a personal touch to his inspection.
Inside the Central Prison, Soumya Mishra, the Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services, delivered a comprehensive presentation. She highlighted the department’s continuous efforts in reformation, welfare, and educational programs. The Minister lauded the Telangana Prisons department for its exceptional work in transforming these correctional facilities from mere places of confinement into dynamic centers of learning and rehabilitation. He particularly emphasized the profound importance of offering inmates not just incarceration, but also dignity and genuine opportunities for a better future.
Also present during this significant visit were key officials including Inspector General of Prisons N. Murali Babu, Deputy Inspectors General D. Srinivas and M. Sampath, Superintendent of Central Prison Cherlapalli N. Shiva Kumar Goud, and Superintendent of the Prisoners Agriculture Colony D. Kalidas.
