The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has officially opened its online portal for repeaters and private candidates looking to register and pay fees for the SSLC and II PUC examinations. This new digital system, effective from the current academic year, marks a significant upgrade in the state’s examination administration.
This crucial initiative was launched under the direct guidance of the Department of School Education and Literacy (DSEL), reflecting a broader commitment to modernizing educational services in Karnataka.
Anticipating High Enrollment: Over 90,000 Candidates Expected
While KSEAB had already digitalized registration for fresh SSLC and II PUC candidates, the new online facility now extends to a substantial group of over 90,000 repeaters and private candidates who typically register each year.
Historically, both private candidates (meeting age requirements) and repeaters were required to physically visit their respective government high schools or PU colleges to complete their examination registration and fee payment. This often involved multiple trips and significant time commitment.
This traditional manual process was fraught with challenges. Students frequently reported encountering absent headmasters or principals, leading to frustration and alleged harassment. Furthermore, KSEAB received numerous complaints regarding inflated examination fees being levied by institutions.
Further compounding the issues were instances of fees not being remitted to KSEAB on time and, in some unfortunate cases, candidates failing to receive their crucial examination admit cards. The new online registration system is a direct response to these persistent problems, designed to eliminate inefficiencies and enhance transparency for all repeaters and private candidates.
Candidates Applaud the Digital Shift
The move has been met with widespread approval from students. Sagar M.V., a candidate, shared his relief: “Last year, I had to visit the college three or four times just to register as a private candidate for the II PUC exam. Now, with backlogs in two subjects, I’m registering again, and the convenience of online registration and fee payment is immense. It’s a huge time-saver for us.”
