Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is currently in Delhi, where he is set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His visit aims to extend a personal invitation to the Prime Minister for two significant upcoming state events.
The first event is the ‘Super GST – Super Savings’ program in Kurnool, scheduled for October 13. This program will highlight collaborative efforts between the Central and State governments to achieve fiscal efficiency through next-generation GST reforms. Following this, the Chief Minister will invite the Prime Minister to the prestigious CII Partnership Summit 2025, taking place in Visakhapatnam on November 14-15. This summit is designed to spotlight Andhra Pradesh’s rapidly increasing potential for global investment and innovative development.
A major highlight of the Chief Minister’s visit will be his participation in a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony on October 14 at Hotel Taj Mansingh, New Delhi. This historic agreement, between the Andhra Pradesh government and Google, will pave the way for establishing Asia’s first 1-gigawatt hyperscale data center campus in Visakhapatnam. This colossal project signifies an investment of nearly USD 10 billion, equivalent to an astounding ₹84,000 crore.
This state-of-the-art data center is envisioned as the cornerstone of the ambitious “AI City Vizag” initiative. It will integrate advanced AI infrastructure, vast data processing capabilities, sustainable renewable energy sources, and extensive global fiber-optic connectivity. By directly linking with Google’s worldwide network through robust subsea and terrestrial systems, Visakhapatnam is poised to become a pivotal hub in India’s evolving digital landscape.
The signing ceremony will be graced by key dignitaries, including Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Senior global executives from Google, such as Thomas Kurian (CEO, Google Cloud), Bikash Koley (Vice-President, Global Infrastructure), and Karan Bajwa (President, Asia Pacific Google Cloud), will also be in attendance, underscoring the project’s global significance.
Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh expressed his enthusiasm for the project, calling it “a transformative step for the future of Andhra Pradesh and a defining moment in India’s AI-driven growth.”
According to estimates from the State, the Visakhapatnam data center project is projected to inject an average of ₹10,518 crore annually into Andhra Pradesh’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) between 2028 and 2032. Furthermore, it is expected to create approximately 1.88 lakh direct and indirect jobs each year. The initiative will also foster significant productivity spillovers, valued at ₹47,720 crore over five years, largely driven by the extensive Google Cloud ecosystem.
This momentous project received official approval from the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), which is chaired by the Chief Minister. Its implementation will be streamlined through efficient single-window clearances, seamless renewable energy integration, and robust plug-and-play infrastructure, all managed collaboratively by the Economic Development Board and the Department of ITE&C.
