Telangana Congress MLC Balmoor Venkat met with Movie Artists Association (MAA) president Vishnu Manchu on Saturday to file a formal complaint. He is demanding stern action against actor Srikanth Iyengar for what he describes as objectionable and indecent remarks made about Mahatma Gandhi on social media platforms.
In his official complaint, Mr. Venkat strongly urged the cancellation of Srikanth Iyengar’s MAA membership. He emphasized that such comments targeting the Father of the Nation are entirely unacceptable and have deeply wounded public sentiment. He also called upon senior figures within the Telugu film industry to publicly condemn these actions. In response, Mr. Vishnu Manchu and MAA treasurer Shiva Balaji assured that the association considers this a serious matter. “The issue will be thoroughly discussed within the MAA committee, and appropriate action will certainly be taken,” Shiva Balaji stated.
Mr. Balmoor Venkat reiterated that artists bear a significant social responsibility to uphold the principles of truth and non-violence that Mahatma Gandhi tirelessly advocated. He firmly believes that any disrespectful remarks against national icons should not go unpunished. Separately, a police complaint was also lodged against the actor by Mr. Balmoor on the same day.
