Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao declared that the upcoming by-election for the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency will serve as a crucial referendum on the Congress party’s alleged “arrogance, corruption, and deceit.”
Addressing a party gathering on Sunday, which saw Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Cherka Mahesh from Shaikpet division join the BRS, Rao emphasized the historic decision awaiting Jubilee Hills residents. He presented it as a stark contrast: choosing between the “car that builds” – symbolizing BRS’s vision for progress – and the “bulldozer that destroys,” implicitly criticizing the opposition.
Rao sharply criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, alleging that his administration had become synonymous with greed and destruction. He further claimed that the Congress government had not delivered on any of its election promises. According to Rao, the government has amassed a massive debt of ₹2.3 lakh crore and is illicitly using these funds to influence votes in Jubilee Hills.
He intensified his accusations, stating that the Congress party was attempting to buy votes in Jubilee Hills by offering ₹10,000 per vote, funded by ill-gotten gains. Rao warned that public anger was mounting over the broken promises regarding pensions, housing, and fee reimbursement.
Dismissing BJP’s Relevance
Shifting his focus to the BJP, Rao dismissed it as “a party of no relevance in Telangana.” He cautioned voters that casting their ballot for either the Congress or the BJP would be a wasted effort.
Regarding the sensitive issue of enhancing Backward Classes (BC) reservation, Mr. Rama Rao directly accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of intentionally misleading the public. He asserted, “He knew that reservation laws must be enacted in Parliament, not through the Assembly. Yet, he orchestrated a charade simply to deceive the people.”
Furthermore, Rao alleged that the Chief Minister had misled former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin concerning a promise for an MLC position and had also failed the Muslim community regarding the provision of burial grounds.
