The ancient Pydimamba temple in Vizianagaram is on the cusp of a major transformation, with an ambitious development project estimated to cost ₹1.80 crore.
This initiative aims to significantly improve facilities for devotees and address the perennial challenge of parking congestion around the temple, strategically located at the city’s bustling Three Lanterns junction.
With the Detailed Project Report (DPR) now finalized, the eagerly anticipated development work is expected to commence shortly. A key component of the plan involves the government acquiring properties immediately surrounding the temple. This strategic move is designed to alleviate overcrowding and create dedicated, efficient queue lines directly within the temple’s expansive grounds.
Currently, managing the massive influx of pilgrims, especially during vibrant festivals, proves to be a formidable task for temple authorities. Queue lines often spill over, stretching far back to the old urban bank premises along the busy Fort-Three Lanterns junction thoroughfare. The acquisition and restructuring will ensure that devotees can experience a more organized and serene darshan.
Minister’s Urgent Directive
MSME Minister Kondapalli Srinivas has issued a clear directive to the authorities: complete these vital development works within one year. This expedited timeline is crucial to ensure that pilgrims can enjoy the benefits of a modernized and hassle-free darshan experience during the highly anticipated Sirimanotsavam festival in October 2026.
Further enhancing the project’s scope, Goa Governor and esteemed temple Trust Board Chairman, Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju, has provided valuable insights and suggestions to the implementing authorities, reflecting a holistic approach to preserving and upgrading this cherished spiritual landmark.
