A First Information Report (FIR) was officially lodged on Sunday, October 12, 2025, in connection with alleged breaches of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during a high-profile campaign event. The event, led by Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor, took place just a day prior in Raghopur, an assembly constituency represented by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and currently gearing up for the Bihar elections.
Hajipur Deputy Superintendent of Police, Subodh Kumar, confirmed that the FIR was registered at the Raghopur Police Station in Vaishali district. Interestingly, political strategist Prashant Kishor himself was not explicitly named as an accused in the initial report.
The Deputy SP clarified that the permit for the campaign activity had been secured by Satendra Prasad Singh, who has consequently been identified in the FIR for the alleged MCC violation. Further specifics regarding the case were not disclosed at this time.
However, the Deputy SP noted that additional individuals might be implicated as the sub-divisional officer of Hajipur continues his investigation into all locations visited by Mr. Kishor’s campaign on Saturday, October 11.
When confronted with news of the FIR, Mr. Kishor responded dismissively, stating, “So many FIRs are pending against me. Let there be one more,” a remark that has added another layer to the unfolding political drama.
He further addressed concerns that the Election Commission might ban him from campaigning, with the 47-year-old Jan Suraaj Party founder declaring, “No problem. If they stop me, I will stop,” showcasing a defiant stance.
The Jan Suraaj Party has already revealed candidates for 51 out of the 243 seats in the State assembly, indicating their significant participation in the upcoming polls.
Intriguing speculations suggest that Prashant Kishor himself could challenge Tejashwi Yadav in Raghopur. Yadav is currently vying for his third consecutive victory in this significant constituency, a seat that has historically seen his parents elected as well.
The crucial assembly elections are scheduled for November 6 and 11, with the vote counting set to occur on November 14, determining the political landscape of Bihar.
