Ranchi police have announced the arrest of four individuals in connection with the brutal gang rape of a woman in the district. This development comes after a 19-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by seven people in the Tamar area.
The incident reportedly occurred earlier this month, with the victim lodging a formal complaint at the Tamar police station a week later. Her medical examination was subsequently conducted to support the investigation.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Om Prakash confirmed that a total of ten suspects have been identified in the case. Following intensive efforts, four adults have been arrested, and two minors allegedly involved in the crime have also been taken into custody. All apprehended individuals are residents of Tamar. Police forces are currently engaged in extensive raids across multiple locations to track down and arrest the remaining four accused.
In her detailed complaint, the survivor alleged that her own cousin intentionally led her into the perilous situation that resulted in the assault. The officer-in-charge of Tamar police station, Praveen Kumar Modi, further elaborated on the survivor’s account. She stated that the incident began when her cousin called her to a local fair, where she was first assaulted by two individuals. Subsequently, she was taken to Sona Tungri Rugdi, where two more individuals raped her. The harrowing ordeal continued as she was moved to Bundu, where three additional perpetrators assaulted her, and then to Ranchi, where another person committed rape. Eventually, she was left abandoned back at Mardhan More in the Tamar area.
