In a deeply disturbing incident, a woman and her two young daughters have been found murdered in their home, located within the grounds of a mosque in Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh. The victims were reportedly killed with a sharp weapon and were discovered lying in pools of blood.
The deceased have been identified as Israna, 30, and her daughters Sofia and Sumaiya, aged five and two respectively. Israna was the wife of the Imam of the main mosque in Gangnauli village, identified as Ibhrahim. Mr. Ibhrahim was reportedly away on work in Deoband at the time of the incident.
Israna had been teaching children at the mosque compound. Her body was discovered by children who had arrived for their daily lessons. Upon being informed, local police officials, including the Superintendent of Police, rushed to the scene and have sent the bodies for post-mortem examination.
Authorities have formed five dedicated teams to investigate the crime and are exploring various motives, including family disputes, robbery, or personal enmity. “The culprits will be arrested soon,” stated Deputy Inspector General Kalanidhi Naithani, according to news agency PTI.
The discovery led to a protest by some villagers who demanded swift justice as authorities worked to collect evidence and remove the bodies.
