Kalyana Karnataka is experiencing a period of unprecedented growth across vital sectors like health, education, and employment, all thanks to the successful implementation of Article 371(J). This was proudly announced by Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development and Livelihood, Sharan Prakash Patil.
Speaking at the vibrant Kalyana Karnataka Utsav Day celebrations in Raichur, where he unfurled the national flag, Minister Patil recounted the region’s historical journey. He reminded the audience that on September 17, 1948, this area became part of Indian territory following a decisive military operation led by then Home Minister Vallabhbhai Patel against the Hyderabad Nizam’s government. What began as Hyderabad Karnataka Liberation Day is now celebrated as the Kalyana Karnataka Utsav, commemorating this pivotal moment in history.
Minister Patil emphasized that the UPA government, recognizing the region’s historical backwardness, introduced a crucial amendment to Article 371. This amendment granted special status to Kalyana Karnataka, paving the way for targeted development and resource allocation.
The positive outcomes have been remarkable: thousands of students have secured admissions in higher education institutions, while numerous educated individuals have found gainful employment. Crucially, the region now receives an annual allocation of ₹5,000 crore for various development projects. Dr. Patil further detailed that approximately 80,000 vacant government positions have been filled, backed by a total sanction of ₹18,000 crore, significantly boosting local opportunities and infrastructure.
The event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including Minister N.S. Boseraju, MLAs Shivaraj Patil and Basanagouda Daddal, MLC Sharanagouda Patil Bayyapur, A. Vasant Kumar, Mayor Narasamma Narasimhalu, Deputy Commissioner Nitish K., CEO Eshwar Kumar Kandoo, and Superintendent of Police G. Puttamadaiah, among others, underscoring the collective commitment to the region’s prosperity.
