In an increasingly digital world, elected governments must be fully equipped to counter cyberattacks and cybercrimes, stated Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday in Kochi. He highlighted that cybersecurity has become a paramount concern for the public, industries, law enforcement agencies, and administrative bodies alike.
The Chief Minister delivered these remarks while inaugurating the closing session of ‘c0c0n 2025,’ an annual cybersecurity and hacking conference orchestrated by the Kerala Police in partnership with the Information Security Research Association (ISRA).
Mr. Vijayan commended the Kerala Police for their consistent efforts in enhancing cybersecurity through the adoption of best practices. He affirmed the state’s ambition to develop novel and effective countermeasures against evolving cyber threats and criminal activities.
He also drew attention to alarming statistics from Interpol and the National Crime Records Bureau, which reveal the constant threat children and youth face in the digital realm. He stressed that without cautious use of digital devices and online services, individuals risk becoming victims of cybercrimes, underscoring the necessity for comprehensive education for both children and parents on safe social networking practices.
According to the Chief Minister, the c0c0n conference has consistently elevated Kerala’s standing as a national hub for cybersecurity governance and a vital contributor to India’s overall digital security framework. He further elaborated that ‘c0c0n 2025’ underscored the fundamental role of cybersecurity in safeguarding national security, ensuring economic stability, and protecting citizen welfare. By hosting this international event, Kerala solidifies its reputation as India’s most progressive digital state. The conference’s significant focus on artificial intelligence, strengthening law enforcement capabilities, and child protection technologies is set to provide Kerala with opportunities to influence national policy and contribute to India’s evolving cyber-safety mechanisms.
