On Saturday, October 11, 2025, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta personally presented ex-gratia payments of ₹1 crore each to the families of eleven dedicated Corona Warriors.
Ms. Gupta highlighted the profound commitment of Delhi’s frontline workers, who bravely risked their own lives to serve the community when the world stood still during the COVID-19 pandemic. She shared these sentiments on a social media platform, praising their unwavering devotion.
Emphasizing their extraordinary ‘feeling of service and dedication’ that saved thousands of lives, the Chief Minister affirmed that the Delhi government would stand firmly by the families of these ‘Karmyogis’ (selfless workers) who tragically lost their lives while fulfilling their duties.
During her heartfelt interaction with the bereaved family members, as she handed over the compensation cheques, Ms. Gupta also pledged the Delhi government’s ongoing support for them in the years to come.
This compassionate initiative follows an announcement made on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, by the BJP-led government, committing to provide ₹1 crore ex-gratia to the families of all employees who made the ultimate sacrifice while on duty during the pandemic.
To ensure a swift and efficient distribution of these funds, a dedicated group of Delhi cabinet ministers, including Ashish Sood, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh, was established in June to fast-track the entire disbursing process.
