Cricketer-turned-politician and former MP Navjot Singh Sidhu shared a picture of his meeting with Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on Friday, triggering speculation about his return to active politics.
In the caption of the picture shared on his social media handles, Sidhu wrote, “Met my mentor, lighthouse and guiding angel …. Just grateful to her and Bhai for standing by in rough and tough times ….”
The former MP has been staying away from day-to-day party affairs since his release from Patiala jail in 2023, following the completion of his one-year imprisonment in the 1988 road rage death case. During this period, Sidhu, who previously served as a minister in the Amarinder Singh-led Congress government, had turned to cricket commentary.
Meanwhile, his wife, Navjot Kaur Sidhu, has remained active in their home constituency of Amritsar East, a seat that both have represented in the past. Reflecting on his political future, Sidhu had previously indicated that any decision regarding his return to active politics would be made by the Congress high command, a statement he made during a press conference last November.
