In a significant development, the Solan District Police have arrested Ram Kumar Bindal, the brother of Himachal Pradesh BJP chief, in connection with a rape case. This arrest follows a complaint filed by a woman alleging molestation and sexual assault.
The case has been registered against Ram Kumar Bindal under Sections 64 and 68 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Women Police Station in Solan. According to Solan Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh, the complaint was lodged on October 8.
The complainant, who was reportedly suffering from a long-term illness and had not found relief through conventional medical treatments, sought Ayurvedic treatment near the old bus stand in Solan on October 7. She claimed to have met a man who identified himself as a vaidya (traditional healer). This individual, later identified as Ram Kumar Bindal, allegedly examined her under the guise of a diagnosis. During the examination, he reportedly inquired about sexual problems, assured her of a complete cure, and even showed her a related book. The woman further alleged that Bindal insisted on examining her private parts, and upon her refusal, he proceeded to molest and sexually assault her.
Following the alleged assault, the woman managed to push Bindal away and immediately left the premises. She subsequently reported the incident to the Women Police Station.
A police spokesperson stated that an FIR was promptly filed based on the complaint, and the investigation was initiated. The victim’s statement has been recorded in court, and a forensic team from SFSL Junga inspected the scene, collected evidence, and aided the police in the investigation. Technical evidence gathered during the probe has also been analyzed.
Based on the victim’s statement, site inspection, and technical findings, Ram Kumar Bindal was arrested. He is slated to be produced before the competent court, and further investigations are ongoing.
Following his arrest, Bindal underwent a medical examination, after which he was admitted to a hospital. DSP Anil Dhaulta informed reporters that Bindal experienced some health issues during his medical examination, leading to his hospitalization. More details are awaited.
