On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid a heartfelt tribute to the legendary social reformer, ‘Periyar’ E.V. Ramasamy, marking his 147th birth anniversary. The Chief Minister took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his profound admiration for Periyar’s contributions.
“Periyar is a magnificent flame that incinerates the darkness of caste hatred,” CM Stalin declared in his post. He further elaborated, describing Periyar as “a brilliant beacon of light guiding us towards rationalism and illuminating the path for the advancement of the Tamil people. Periyar’s influence, his spirit, and his ideals will forever resonate and endure across all lands, for all time.”
Echoing the Chief Minister’s sentiments, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Minister P.K. Sekarbabu also offered his respects, laying floral tributes at Periyar’s statue on Anna Salai, a significant gesture reflecting the state’s deep reverence for the iconic leader.
