Telangana is making a steadfast commitment to enhancing road safety and infrastructure by developing accident-free roads through the innovative Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM). This initiative was recently highlighted by Roads & Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who stressed the state government’s determination to set a national benchmark.
The government plans to roll out this ambitious project in phases, with tenders for the initial phase of HAM roads expected to be issued within the next one to two weeks. The core objective is to transform Telangana into a leading example for road development nationwide.
During a recent review meeting with senior officials, Minister Reddy detailed the scope of the project. It includes reinforcing existing single, double, and four-lane roads, alongside strategically widening them. The plan specifically aims to upgrade roads connecting mandal headquarters to district headquarters into double-lane thoroughfares, while those linking district headquarters to the state capital will be expanded to four lanes.
A key aspect of this project is ensuring equitable development across all Assembly constituencies. The government intends to establish connectivity corridors under the HAM model, linking these constituencies effectively. The overarching goal is to fortify all Roads & Buildings (R&B) infrastructure using the HAM model within the next three years.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who also attended the meeting, urged officials to consider comprehensive traffic surveys during the planning and development stages. He emphasized the urgency of commencing work on these HAM roads promptly, ensuring that every Assembly constituency receives equal consideration and priority in this transformative initiative.
