Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav announced that the new ‘Super GST-Super Savings’ regime is set to dramatically reduce financial strain on households, making essential goods significantly more affordable. This initiative reflects a commitment to improving the economic well-being of families across the state.
Under this progressive reform, the NDA government at both the Centre and State levels has streamlined the GST structure. Previously complex tax slabs of 28%, 18%, 12%, and 5% have been simplified into just two categories. This substantial rationalization is designed to provide considerable financial relief to families, directly impacting their monthly budgets.
Minister Keshav highlighted that the revamped GST framework would enable households to realize substantial savings annually. The benefits are far-reaching, encompassing everyday necessities like soaps and pastes, as well as higher-value purchases such as air conditioners and refrigerators. This move is expected to democratize access to goods, making even previously considered luxury items more attainable for middle-class and economically weaker sections of society.
To ensure these benefits reach every citizen, the Minister urged officials to launch extensive awareness campaigns throughout Andhra Pradesh’s villages and towns. The goal is to inform every household about the advantages of GST 2.0 and how they can benefit from the new savings regime. Commercial Taxes department officials have been tasked with leading this crucial outreach effort.
