Hyderabad law enforcement recently made a significant arrest, taking two individuals into custody for illegal possession of a country-made pistol. The operation was carried out by the Special Zonal Crime Team of the Hyderabad Central Crime Station, with assistance from the Falaknuma Police, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Vijay Yadav, 25, residing in Lingampally, and Bunty Kumar Yadav, 22, from Santosh Nagar. Both men, originally from Jharkhand, worked as fruit vendors in local wine shops and bars. During their apprehension, officers seized a 0.7 mm firearm and two mobile phones. Police investigations revealed that Vijay Yadav had acquired the pistol approximately three months prior from an individual named Sonu Kumar in Bihar, reportedly for ₹58,000, with the intention of reselling it for a profit.
Further inquiries indicated that both Vijay and Bunty had been actively attempting to sell the weapon to various ‘anti-social elements,’ even using photographs of the firearm to facilitate the illicit transaction. Authorities have registered a case, and a concerted effort is now underway to locate and apprehend the third suspect, Sonu. The Hyderabad police have also issued a stern warning to the public: anyone found in illegal possession of arms or weapons is urged to surrender them immediately to their nearest police station. They underscored their commitment to maintaining strict surveillance and taking decisive action against all individuals involved in unlawful activities across the city.
