Peenya police have taken a 28-year-old laborer into custody following a disturbing incident where he allegedly used a rolling pin to attack his wife during a minor disagreement. The assault, witnessed by their two young children, tragically resulted in her death a week later in the hospital.
Authorities were alerted by the owner of the couple’s residence, leading them to locate and arrest Chotelal Singh on murder charges. Police reports indicate that Singh and his 26-year-old wife, Prithi Singh, both originally from Madhya Pradesh, worked as helpers at a private firm and resided with their children in Chokkasandra. It is alleged that Chotelal frequently subjected Prithi to unwarranted mental and physical abuse.
The fatal incident occurred on September 24. Prithi Singh had returned home for lunch when her husband reportedly initiated a quarrel. During the altercation, he violently struck her multiple times on the head and body with a rolling pin.
In an attempt to cover up his crime, Chotelal transported his injured wife to a local hospital, falsely claiming she had sustained her injuries from a fall from their building.
However, the couple’s children, who tragically witnessed their mother’s assault, bravely confided in the owner of the company where their mother worked. This crucial testimony prompted the company owner to file a formal complaint at the Peenya Police Station.
Following the complaint, Chotelal Singh was apprehended for questioning. During the interrogation, he reportedly confessed to the brutal assault on his wife with the rolling pin, which ultimately led to her death.
