In a significant breakthrough, Osmania University police have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with a burglary that occurred in Tarnaka, Hyderabad.
Authorities confirmed the recovery of approximately 14.5 tolas of gold ornaments linked to the incident.
The arrested individual has been identified as Marneni Bala Dheeraj, a physiotherapist who resides in Nacharam. His apprehension took place on October 6, close to Tarnaka.
Police records indicate that Dheeraj was previously implicated in an attempted theft case back in 2013, which was registered at the Tappachabutra police station.
The investigation into the current burglary began after a resident of Tarnaka reported a theft at his home on the night of September 27.
The victim recounted that he and his family had left their residence to drop off relatives at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Upon their return after midnight, they discovered that valuable gold jewelry and a sum of cash were missing from their son’s bedroom.
The list of stolen items included four bracelets, six pairs of earrings, two pairs of diamond earrings, and four traditional mangalsutras, collectively weighing around 14.5 tolas of gold. Additionally, ₹10,000 in cash was also taken.
Investigators diligently followed various leads, which ultimately led them to Dheeraj. During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to his involvement in the burglary.
