On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, a bus carrying religious pilgrims tragically overturned on the Lakhimpur-Bahraich road in Uttar Pradesh, resulting in injuries to twenty-two passengers, according to police reports.
The bus, which was transporting devotees from Bhinga in Shrawasti District and returning from Manouna Dham in Bareilly, crashed near the Nainiha forest. Senior Sub-Inspector Ajai Pratap Yadav of Motipur Police Station stated that the driver swerved to avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming truck, leading to the unfortunate incident.
All 22 injured individuals were immediately rushed to the Motipur Primary Health Centre, where their condition has been reported as stable and out of danger. An eyewitness passenger mentioned that the bus was carrying approximately 70 people, with several experiencing head injuries and fractures.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath quickly responded to the news, expressing his deep concern over the accident. His office released a statement confirming his directive to officials to promptly reach the site, oversee relief operations, and ensure that all injured receive optimal medical treatment for a swift recovery.
