S. Suresh Kumar, a prominent BJP MLA and former School Education Minister, has launched an important initiative, calling upon all elected representatives to make regular visits to government schools within their constituencies. His goal is to encourage direct engagement and meaningful interaction with students to truly understand their needs.
Following a productive meeting with School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC) representatives from 15 districts on Tuesday, Kumar emphasized the critical role of elected officials. ‘To ensure our students receive top-tier education, I’ve formally requested every MLA, MLC, and MP in the state to personally visit government schools in their areas and spend time interacting with the children,’ he stated.
During the discussions, SDMC representatives highlighted several pressing concerns, such as the negative impact of mid-academic year teacher transfers and the urgent need for textbooks to be supplied before the school year begins. As a result, it was mutually agreed that a monthly magazine showcasing the positive contributions of SDMCs would be launched, and a formal request would be sent to the government advocating for the appointment of dedicated subject teachers.
