In a significant move into state politics, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has officially announced its participation in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, pledging to contest all 243 seats. On Monday, October 6, 2025, the party unveiled its initial list of 11 candidates, marking its debut in the state.
During a press conference, AAP’s state in-charge, Ajesh Yadav, expressed strong confidence in replicating the party’s successful governance models from Delhi and Punjab in Bihar. He highlighted the widespread appreciation for AAP’s work across the nation, noting that individuals from the Purvanchal region had played a crucial role in the party’s victories in Delhi. Yadav quoted national convener Arvind Kejriwal, who questioned, “If they can help us form a government in Delhi, then why not in Bihar?”
Meet the First AAP Candidates for Bihar Elections
The party’s first batch of candidates includes:
- Meera Singh for Begusarai
- Bhanu Bhartiya for the Kasba seat in Purnia district
- Arun Kumar Rajak for Phulwari seat in Patna
- Pankaj Kumar for Bankipur in Patna
- Ashok Kumar Singh for Govindganj in Motihari

Abhinav Rai, the state AAP co-in-charge, explicitly ruled out any alliances with existing political factions in Bihar. He asserted, “Our alliance is with the people of Bihar. We won’t ally with any party or coalition.”
Yadav further emphasized AAP’s track record, particularly its achievements in enhancing education, healthcare, and public welfare services in Delhi and Punjab. Responding to media queries, he pointed out, “Prashant Kishor has just begun talking about reforms, but we have already implemented those on the ground.”
The party expects to release the list of its star campaigners shortly. Yadav also mentioned that several top AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Sanjay Singh, and Bhagwant Mann, have previously visited Bihar, indicating a sustained interest in the state’s political landscape.
