Forest Department officials have apprehended three individuals in connection with the horrific poisoning of a tiger. The animal’s lifeless body was discovered recently near Pachchedoddi village, nestled within the Hanur range of the M.M. Hills Wildlife Sanctuary.
The arrested individuals, identified as Ganesha, Sampu, and Pacchemallu, are all residents of the local area.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the heinous act, admitting they poisoned the majestic big cat before dismembering its body. Deputy Conservator of Forests, Bhaskar, revealed that the motive behind this cruel act was ‘revenge killing,’ as the villagers had suffered livestock losses attributed to the tiger.
Following these confessions, authorities have intensified their efforts, launching a widespread manhunt for four other individuals believed to be involved in the crime, according to Mr. Bhaskar.
The ongoing investigation is being led by a dedicated special team under the guidance of PCCF Smita Bijjur. Experts from the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau have also joined the probe, bringing their specialized knowledge to uncover all aspects of this incident.
