Kakani Govardhan Reddy, a former Minister and the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president for the undivided Nellore district, delivered a sharp warning on Sunday, October 5, 2025. He stated that the YSRCP would retaliate if the ruling NDA leaders continued to target their party members and activists.
This strong message follows a recent incident where Vemula Srinivasulu, a prominent YSRCP leader from South Amuluru village in the Sarvepalli Constituency’s Thotapalli Gudur mandal, was reportedly attacked.
Visiting the injured leader on Sunday, Mr. Govardhan Reddy expressed deep dismay over what he described as partisan policing. He highlighted the severity of Mr. Srinivasulu’s injury, noting he required six stitches for a head wound, yet authorities registered the case under lenient, bailable sections. ‘This is entirely unacceptable,’ Reddy declared.
Addressing the media, Mr. Reddy accused the ruling alliance of systematically attacking opposition leaders, driven by political vendetta and consistently provoking YSRCP activists.
Govardhan Reddy directly implicated his political rival, former Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, for instigating the attack. He alleged that Mr. Chandramohan Reddy was involved in the illicit plundering of natural resources within the constituency and targeted opposition leaders who dared to question him. ‘The TDP leaders are doing everything to subjugate our local leaders, but our people will not be intimidated by such brutal tactics,’ he asserted.
He concluded by urging the police and other government officials to maintain neutrality and refrain from taking sides in political matters.
