Acclaimed actor, filmmaker, and producer Prakash Raj is set to preside over the jury for the 2024 Kerala State Film Awards. The state government officially issued the order for his appointment, also naming prominent filmmakers Ranjan Pramod and Jibu Jacob to serve on the two preliminary sub-committees. Both Pramod and Jacob will also advance to the final judging panel, bringing their expertise to the ultimate selections.
Complementing the esteemed main jury, the final panel will feature notable talents such as dubbing artist Bhagyalekshmi, celebrated playback singer Gayathri Ashokan, visionary filmmaker and sound designer Nithin Lukose, and renowned author-screenwriter Santhosh Echikkanam. The initial preliminary judging panels boast a diverse range of expertise, including film critic M.C. Raja Narayanan, filmmaker V.C. Abhilash, poet and lyricist Vijayarajamallika, cinematographer Subal K.R., filmmaker Rajesh K., and the eloquent writer and lyricist Shamshad Hussain.
In a separate but equally important category, filmmaker Madhu Eravankara will lead the jury dedicated to awards for cinematic writings. This specialized committee will include distinguished film critic A. Chandrasekhar and insightful writer Vineetha Vijayan. Chalachitra Academy Secretary C. Ajoy will play a pivotal administrative role, serving as the member secretary across all judging panels. The awards have received a robust submission of 128 films, with the intensive jury screenings scheduled to commence on October 6th.
