Leaders of the Navyandhra Teachers Association have formally urged the state government to establish a Cabinet sub-committee. This committee would be responsible for formulating a plan to disburse an estimated ₹33,000 crore in pending dues owed to government employees and teachers.
In a recent statement, State president K. Harikrishna and general secretary M. Srinivasa Rao of the association highlighted that if immediate cash payment isn’t feasible, the government should consider allocating house sites with a 30% subsidy. They also suggested the creation of Housing Boards across all revenue and district headquarters, including the Amaravati region, to facilitate the development of these residential plots.
The association pointed out that over the past eight years, various financial obligations, including Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears, Pay Revision Commission (PRC) arrears, and surrender leave benefits, have accumulated to nearly ₹33,000 crore. This significant delay, they stated, has plunged many employees and teachers into severe financial hardship. They emphasized that the proposed Cabinet sub-committee must be tasked with ensuring these payments are completed within three months.
Furthermore, they noted that four DA installments, previously announced by the Central government, have been outstanding for over 50 months. Additionally, the Pay Revision Commission (PRC), which was initially due from July 2023, has been deferred by the government. Employees under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) are also facing substantial arrears, with each individual reportedly owed around ₹5 lakh. The association reiterated that this prolonged delay is directly impacting the quality of life for these dedicated public servants.
