In a heartbreaking incident, a 28-year-old student from Hyderabad, who was pursuing a Master’s degree in Data Analytics at the University of North Texas, Dallas, was tragically shot and killed. The incident occurred on Friday night at a gas station in Denton, Texas, where the victim, identified as Pole Chandrasekhar, was working part-time.

According to information received by his family members in Hyderabad, Chandrasekhar was allegedly shot by unidentified robbers. His brother, Pole Damodar, expressed the family’s profound shock and grief, stating that their father had passed away four years ago. He mentioned that their mother is devastated by the news.
The victim was identified through a passport found with the gas station manager. The family is actively coordinating with the Ministry of External Affairs to expedite the process of bringing Chandrasekhar’s mortal remains back to India.
The family is awaiting further details, including the reason behind the attack and medical reports. Chandrasekhar, born on April 4, 1997, had completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery before relocating to the US in August 2023 to pursue his Master’s in Data Analytics, with his course expected to conclude on December 12, 2025. His professional background includes a part-time role as a Senior Data Analyst at GEICO and previous positions as a Data Analyst at American Express in Chennai and a Programmer Analyst at Hitachi Energy in Bengaluru.
T Harish Rao, a former Telangana minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA, visited the grieving family and expressed his condolences via Twitter. He urged the Telangana government to take initiative in facilitating the swift return of Chandrasekhar’s body. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy also conveyed his sorrow over the student’s untimely death and assured the family of the state government’s full support in bringing Chandrasekhar’s remains home.
