The esteemed Vice-President and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, C.P. Radhakrishnan, has scheduled a significant gathering of the Upper House’s floor leaders for Tuesday, October 7, 2025. This marks his inaugural formal interaction with the heads of various political parties in this capacity.
Previously, on September 12, the day he officially assumed office as the 15th Vice-President, Radhakrishnan engaged in an informal discussion with some of these leaders who were in Delhi.
The upcoming meeting extends invitations to a total of 34 distinguished leaders. Among those expected to attend are the Leader of the House and Union Minister J.P. Nadda, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, and his two deputies, Arjun Ram Meghwal and L. Murugan.
However, the gathering will see the absence of two notable figures. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, who also serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the Upper House, is expected to miss the event as he is currently recuperating from heart surgery to implant a pacemaker. Similarly, Trinamool Congress’s Rajya Sabha parliamentary party leader, Derek O’ Brien, will be unable to participate due to a prior commitment.
