A young student from Hyderabad, who was pursuing his Master’s degree in the United States, was tragically shot and killed during a robbery at a gas station in Denton, Texas. The incident occurred on Friday, October 3, 2025, during his part-time shift.
The victim, 28-year-old Pole Chandrashekar, originally hailed from L.B. Nagar in Hyderabad. Born on April 4, 1997, he had already earned a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree before moving to the U.S. to further his education. He was enrolled in a Master’s program specializing in Data Analytics at the University of North Texas in Dallas.
Chandrashekar had been actively building his professional career, working as a Senior Data Analyst part-time at GEICO since August 2024. Prior to this, he gained valuable experience as a Data Analyst with American Express in Chennai from 2021 to 2023, and as a Programmer Analyst with Hitachi Energy in Bengaluru from 2020 to 2021.
Denton police confirmed that Chandrashekar was working at the gas station to support himself when robbers opened fire during the hold-up, leaving him fatally wounded. Authorities are now working to complete the necessary procedures to repatriate his body back to Hyderabad.
Reacting to the heartbreaking news, former Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA T. Harish Rao visited Chandrashekar’s grieving family. He expressed profound sorrow, stating on social media, “It is tragic that Chandra Shekhar Pole, a Dalit student from Nagar who completed BDS and went to America (Dallas) for higher studies, died in a shooting carried out by miscreants early morning. We, on behalf of BRS, demand that the Telangana government take initiative and make efforts to bring Chandra Shekhar’s mortal remains to his hometown as quickly as possible.”
