Bengaluru’s Namma Metro experienced a dramatic halt to its services on Saturday, October 4, 2025, after a passenger intentionally jumped onto the tracks at the busy Nadaprabhu Kempegowda (Majestic) Metro Station.
The alarming event transpired around 3:17 PM when an individual suddenly leaped in front of an approaching train on the Green Line, which was en route to Madhavara. Swift and commendable action by the metro staff and security personnel ensured the person was promptly rescued from the tracks. Following the rescue, the individual was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has yet to release the identity of the passenger or provide any updates on their current health status.
The disruption lasted for approximately 30 minutes, with normal train operations resuming by 3:47 PM. During this critical period, Green Line services were temporarily restricted, running only between the Madhavara and Rajajinagar stations, and separately between National College and Silk Institute.
This incident marks another troubling occurrence at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Metro Station, a major hub and one of the busiest interchange points within the city’s metro network. A similar event caused service delays as recently as August 11, when another passenger jumped onto the tracks.
These recurring safety breaches have intensified public and official calls for the BMRCL to accelerate the implementation of vital protective railings and robust safety barriers at all metro platforms. Such measures are crucial to prevent future accidents, safeguard passengers, and guarantee the seamless operation of the metro system.
As of now, city police authorities have confirmed they have not received any official complaint or report from BMRCL regarding the incident.
