Hyderabad’s East Zone Task Force successfully apprehended and deported a 33-year-old Nigerian man who had been residing in India unlawfully and was suspected of having ties to drug trafficking. This decisive action highlights the ongoing efforts to maintain national security and combat illegal activities.
The individual, identified as Geoffrey Dozieobi Ibe, was found to be without any legitimate passport or visa, confirmed Inspector U. Chandra Shekar of the East Zone police.
According to Inspector Shekar, Ibe reportedly entered India via Nepal by road in 2019 and had since traveled frequently between Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Authorities also noted his alleged connections with drug peddlers operating in both metropolitan areas.
His apprehension took place on October 2 in Tolichowki, where Task Force personnel observed him behaving suspiciously.
During interrogation, Ibe was unable to produce any valid identification or provide a credible reason for his prolonged stay in the country. While no illicit drugs were discovered on his person, investigations conducted by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) and the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing corroborated his illegal entry and alleged illicit connections. An Emergency Certificate was promptly secured from the Nigerian Embassy to streamline the deportation process.
Authorities emphasized that his continued presence in India posed a significant risk of deeper involvement in drug trafficking networks. Consequently, the deportation process was swiftly initiated and successfully concluded.
