Authorities in Kanhangad, Kasaragod, Kerala, have detained a 45-year-old migrant worker from Karnataka in connection with a harrowing case of alleged sexual assault and pregnancy involving his minor daughter.
The shocking discovery came to light when the 13-year-old girl was admitted to a local hospital on Friday morning due to severe back pain. Medical professionals, growing suspicious after finding she was pregnant, promptly alerted the police.
Following the girl’s statement, a case was immediately registered under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Officials confirm that the accused will be formally arrested and presented before the court after a comprehensive statement is recorded.
Investigations by the police revealed that the father had allegedly sexually abused his daughter several months prior. Out of fear, she had tragically kept the abuse a secret, even from her mother. The Hosdurg police were responsible for apprehending the individual.
Disturbingly, this is not an isolated incident in Kanhangad this year. In July, a very similar case surfaced involving a 15-year-old girl who was also sexually assaulted by her father and subsequently gave birth to a child. In that instance, the accused, who was living in the Gulf, was brought back to Kerala by the police to face justice.
